FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 15, 2025
CLEVELAND—Audrey Magdics, a Painting and Drawing junior at the Cleveland Institute of Art, is excited to announce her solo exhibition, Healing Horizons, in University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center’s Trudy Wiesenberger Gallery (Annex).
Healing Horizons will share Magdics' personal healing journey following her father's sudden illness and long-term hospital stay. Since enduring that trauma, Magdics has been inspired to tell her story through her large-scale, Lee Krasner-inspired abstract paintings.
"Since my dad suddenly got sick, I immediately felt inspired to tell my story through painting. The subject matter is personal to me, and I want to share and celebrate my own experiences with the public since we all cope with hard things in life," she says. "By sharing my personal experience in an abstract way, I'm inviting viewers to come to the work in whatever way suits them best.
Healing Horizons will be exhibited at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center at 11100 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. There will be an opening reception from 4 to 6pm Thursday, May 1, and the exhibition will remain on view through Sunday, July 6.
Magdics was excited to partner with University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center for Healing Horizons.
"Before my dad’s illness, I had no idea what going through a traumatic experience actually felt like. The hospital staff began to feel like family, a very comforting presence during this tough time," Magdics says. "I was eager to work with University Hospitals since my family had spent a lot of time within that hospital campus with my dad. I wanted to give back to the hospital somehow since they have helped my dad and family a ton."

Healing Horizons was created through CIA's Creativity Works program, which is made possible by the generous support of the Fenn Educational Fund and the G.R. Lincoln Family Foundation. Creativity Works is a self-initiated internship program with the goal of supporting a student's professional development. Participating students create proposals that align with their long-term professional goals.
