Sarah Paul

Born on the edge of the Berkshire Mountains in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Sarah Paul is now a transdisciplinary artist based in Cleveland, Ohio. Throughout her youth, Paul studied classical voice, but her creative authorship began in 1989 when she joined her first punk rock band. This experience with live music would serve to inform her eventual transition into visual art. She received her BS in Mathematics from the University at Albany, and MFA in Fine Art from the University at Buffalo. Paul is a recipient of The Satellite Fund from SPACES Gallery + The Andy Warhol Foundation Regional Regranting Program, the Ohio Arts Council Individual Award for Excellence in Media Art and a Creative Workforce Fellowship granted from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul is presently a Professor of Sculpture and Expanded Media at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Past exhibitions and performances include the Riffe Gallery, CAN Triennial, Akron Art Museum, SPACES Gallery, Sculpture Center Cleveland, MOCA Cleveland, Albright-Knox Gallery, UB Art Gallery, and the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art. Paul’s video work has been screened around the U.S. and abroad and her art has been acquired by Progressive Art Collection and private estates.
