Mei Peraza is a housing staff member with six years of progressive residence life experience, starting as a Resident Assistant at The Ohio State University and then advancing to Residence Life Coordinator here at the Cleveland Institute of Art. In her role as Residence Life Coordinator in the Student Life + Housing office, Mei oversees the health and safety standards of the 117 Residence hall, maintains acceptable standards of behavior within the hall based on college policy, and facilitates all processes related to residence life. In addition to this, Mei also supervises four resident assistants in promoting a comprehensive residential experience and supporting students seeking further social and educational opportunities within the hall while also advising the Latinx Heritage and Appreciation club.
Prior to beginning her role as CIA’s Residence Life Coordinator, Mei worked as an Assistant English Language Teacher for four years in rural Japan familiarizing students with the English language and American culture after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese and Korean Language and Cultures from the Ohio State University.
