You are much more than and artist or designer. Maybe you’re a musician too, or an athlete, or a political advocate. So as your classes help transform you into the artist you want to become you may also need a community that supports your growth as a person.
Through CIA student activities you can spend time developing interests you share with fellow students. Below is a list of current activities. You can also start a group. Download the pdf on starting a student group.
Artists for Christ is a student group who promotes the spiritual life of CIA students by providing opportunities for Christian spiritual growth through worship, fellowship, training, and servant outreach.
This club works with Student life & Housing/Student Affairs to sponsor Bongo Ball, the Halloween Party, Cedar Point, Laser Tag (Star Wars), and Pink Pig. CAB does fun stuff! Throughout the school year they have a bunch of activities for students to enjoy like Sandy Candy, Valentine’s & Coffee Time, and De-stress Express just to name a few.
The Community Service Club and the office of Student Life & Housing/Student Affairs provides several opportunities for CIA students to serve their local community and the greater Cleveland region. Past activities include MS Fest, Greater Cleveland AIDS Walk, and making dinner for the residents at Hope Lodge. This past year, CSC traveled to New Orleans once again, making it its fifth year of working with Hurricane Katrina relief programs. This year the club will begin working with Habitat for Humanity and will continue to volunteer with new organizations in the years to come.
Fiber Club is open to all students who are interested in the fiber arts. Come and join us while we knit, crochet, share projects and talk! All skill levels welcome. This groups hosts an annual fiber prom in the spring. This club also brings in guest artists to talk to students about various techniques in fiber.
Known for their potluck, this group brings in guest artists to talk to students about different techniques in glass blowing. Also you can learn techniques for blowing, handling, and creating glass.
This group is all about video games and discussing what is good about some games and how other games can be improved. If you love video games this is the club for you.
The annual Student Independent Exhibition is one of the major shows featured in the Institute’s Reinberger Galleries each year. The Exhibition is sponsored by the Student Leadership Council and offers students the opportunity to introduce their work to the public. Show rules, jury selection, publicity, catalogs, exhibit design and installation and the opening reception are organized and coordinated by students. Students in all majors are encouraged to submit work for jury consideration.
