Deming Exhibit at Sculpture Center Opens Sept 24

After retiring as Institute president in July, CIA grad David Deming '67 exhibits works from two of his dynamic sculpture series.

A show featuring work by retired CIA president David Deming ’67 will open at the Sculpture Center on September 24 with a reception from 5:30 to 8pm and an artist's talk at 7pm. The show will be on view until December 18, 2010.

TransFORMations: The Rocker and Centurion Series by David Deming presents the creative variations for two of Deming’s dynamic sculpture series, which range from brushed steel glyptic forms to stately upright bronze pieces.

In honor of Deming’s 41 years as a fine arts teacher, the exhibition will also include an example of the artist’s production steps from model to casting molds to finished sculpture.

Pieces of Deming’s work are on display at several University Circle institutions, including CIA and Case Western Reserve University. And a piece from his “Rocker” series was recently installed in front of the newly built 27 Coltman townhomes in Little Italy.
