Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

Minek received his BFA in Photography and Video from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2011 and his MFA in Photography & Film from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2013. Joseph has exhibited his work nationally in spaces such as the Cleveland Museum of Art, Anderson Gallery, Forum Art Space, Washington Project for the Arts, and Capital One Headquarters. Joseph is currently teaching at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Cuyahoga Community College, while focusing on his studio practice dealing with the possibilities of photographic material.

Minek explains, "While the mechanics of photographic image making via a camera are clear to me, I am fascinated by the complex processes used to generate a photographic image. To better understand my enchantment with photography, I alter photographic paper by breaking down its material structure, a procedure that I term my “experiments.” These experiments allow me to revel in the wonder of photography while concurrently pushing at the boundaries of the medium in a methodical process."

Cleveland Institute of Art is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.
