Spend a lunch hour learning about the latest in art and design during these Friday lectures. Each lecture features a variety of artists and designers from around the world, including CIA faculty and visiting artists. This event is free and open to the public. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

Barry Underwood received his master's degree in photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work can be found in the collections of The Akron Art Museum (Akron, OH), Cleveland Museum of Art (Cleveland, OH), Elton John Photography Collection (Atlanta, GA), The Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), TIAA-CREFF (New York City), and the Rockefeller Family Art Collection (Petaluma, CA), among several others. His work has been reviewed in numerous publications, and several books including Crazy Photography (France), Land Art (France), and the San Francisco Exploratorium’s The Art of Tinkering, Color Magazine (CA), the London Times, Spectrum Magazine (England), Photo+ (Seoul), Picnic Magazine (Tel Aviv), and Vision Magazine (Beijing), and it has been featured in Real Simple Magazine (United States). He has been awarded the Creative Workforce Fellowship through the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (OH), The Cleveland Arts Prize for Visual Arts (OH), and the Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award (OH). Underwood has exhibited his work in a variety of contexts including historical and contemporary museums, university galleries, for-profit galleries, medical facilities, and print and online publications. His work is represented by Sous Les Etoiles Gallery, in New York, NY; Johansson Projects Gallery in Oakland, CA; and 1Point618 Gallery in Cleveland, OH. His photographs have been presented at The Museum of Contemporary Art, OH, Dorsky Gallery, NY, and Wayne State University, MI, as well as many other venues. In the upcoming months his work will be exhibited in at The Suburban Gallery in Oak Park, IL, and Atmosphere, at the University Gallery, Eastern Michigan University Ypsilanti, MI. Currently, his work is on display in Grand Format from the Collection, Sous Les Etoiles Gallery, New York, NY. Underwood was recently awarded a 2015 Visiting Artist in Residence at Teton Artlab in Jackson, WY. He has also been an artist-in-residence at The Banff Center for the Arts (Canada), I-Park Foundation (CT), Headlands Center for the Arts (CA), Burlington City Arts, at Shelburne Farms (VT), The Center for Land Use Interpretation (UT), and The MacDowell Colony (NH).
