What Happens Is Another
at Zygote Press
As artists and makers, we attempt to exert control over the materials we choose to work with, shaping and forming them into what we see in our minds. Sometimes we successfully bend them to our will, but mostly, our time is spent reacting to the Inherent qualities of the material itself, responding to the surprises and "happy accidents;' and getting to know our materials inside and out. This is why artists call their work a practice. Each day spent In the studio leads to the formulation of an idea, the conception of a new work, a new process. Each day an artist shows up to work, what happens Is another. another discovery, another Idea, another work of art.
