Cinematheque cancels filmmaker appearance, adds films in October

Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman, who was scheduled to appear at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque on Saturday, October 19, has had to cancel her appearance due to personal reasons that will keep her in Belgium.

However, the film she was to have presented on 10/19, her most recent feature ALMAYER’S FOLLY, will still be shown at 7:30pm, as will her 1975 work JEANNE DIELMAN, showing Sunday, October 6, at 6:30pm in what was to have been a “warm up” for her visit. Ticket prices to ALMAYER’S FOLLY have been reduced to $9; Cinematheque members $7; age 25 & under $6.

The Cinematheque will try to reschedule Ms. Akerman for a later date.

The cancellation has opened up three slots in the Cinematheque’s October schedule. These will be filled with two Cleveland first-run films, EUROPA REPORT and OUR NIXON, both described below.

EUROPA REPORT
