Winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, this funny, charming, and touching drama is set in 1980s Soviet bloc Czechoslovakia, where a blacklisted, middle-aged cellist who has lost his philharmonic gig decides to earn some money by marrying a Russian woman seeking Czechoslovak citizenship. But she comes with a five-year-old child who causes considerable complications.
