France, Great Britain, Ireland, United States | 2007 | Harmony Korine
Harmony Korine’s strange, one-of-a-kind feature is a funny, offbeat, “neverland” fable about a lonely Michael Jackson impersonator (Diego Luna) who is invited by a Marilyn Monroe look-alike (Samantha Morton) to live at a Scottish commune populated by other pop culture impersonators. (Denis Lavant mimics Charlie Chaplin.) A bizarre parallel story involves a Latin American pilot and priest (played by Werner Herzog) and a group of flying nuns who jump out of airplanes. With Leos Carax.
