Student On His Way to Guatemala

05/15/14  |  Posted by Max Beers  |  Posted in Students in the Community

Hi, I’m Max Beers. I’m a student in the Photo/Video track here at CIA. I’m anxious to leave for Guatemala this Tuesday, May 20, packing and doing test footage between now and then.

Through June 3, I’ll be documenting a home building project for a family in need, through an organization called Constru Casa (think along the lines of “Habitat for Humanity”). When not behind a camera, I’ll be behind a wheelbarrow.

I’ll keep you all posted here on a regular basis, as soon as I get there.

When I return, I look forward to working with my Photo/Video colleague, Akeem Pennicooke, as co-producers of two short documentaries about the project in Guatemala, one for Kent State University and the other for CIA - and both to be made available to our partner in Guatemala, Constru Casa.

Thanks to CIA and all of the individuals who contributed in many ways to make this internship and trip possible, and to Kent State University College of Architecture & Environmental Design for their partnership on this exciting project.
