Performing arts has migrated from the stage to your hands in a unique new take on how the iPad can be used as a medium. Pentagram’s Abbot Miller has created an app featuring a dance performance by Jonah Bokaer specifically for the iPad. A special box was built with the dimensions of an iPad for Bokaer to move, slide, bounce, jump, and collide with the walls of the space. Crew members even rotated the box while Bokaer was inside. The entire process was filmed for the creation of the app in which users can flip, rotate, and swipe the screen to interact with Bokaer’s performance. Bokaer’s dance movements will change in response to the movement of the iPad and finger gestures. The performance can also be tiled, scaled, arranged around the screen, and viewed in infinite perspectives. Fifth Wall is available in the iTunes Store for $0.99, engage with the movement and become inspired by how the combination of physical and digital can be used to create another realm.
