Financial Aid Checklist + Deadlines

The Office of Financial Aid priority deadline is March 15 for students who plan to attend fall semester. Please submit all required and requested documents prior to this date. 

Prospective Freshmen
Sep-Dec
Jan
  • Once you have applied for admission, check your mail box for a letter from the Office of Financial Aid outlining the complete financial aid process.
Jan-Feb
Feb
  • Make sure the Office of Admissions has your complete application before the March 1 priority deadline so that you can be considered for a CIA Merit Scholarship.
Mar
  • Check your mailbox for scholarship notification letters.
  • Check your mailbox again for initial financial aid award letters accompanied by an award letter brochure. Note: In order to receive a financial aid award letter, you must have completed the financial aid application process and be officially accepted for admission to the Institute.
  • Read the award letter brochure, which will help you determine your available options for meeting that bottom line. 
  • Accept or decline the awards on the award letter by signing the letter and returning it to the Office of Financial Aid.
  • If you have received a federal loan, complete an entrance counseling session online.
  • If you have received a federal loan, complete an electronic Master Promissory Note.
Mar-Jul
  • Send in your deposit to hold your spot in the freshman class.
April
  • If you have been awarded an Admissions Merit Scholarship Award (President's, Gund Family, Dean's, Transfer Dean's, or Transfer Gund Family Scholarship) you must send in your deposit no later than May 1.
June
  • Housing application deadline is June 1.
July
  • Check your mailbox for your fall semester billing statement (invoice) from the Office of Student Accounts.
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 9-month payment plan contract for fall/spring with the first payment due July 31.
Aug
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 8-month payment plan contract for fall/spring with the first payment due August 31.

 

Returning Students

Jun
  • Your academic transcripts are reviewed to determine if you meet federal financial aid regulations and whether you have made satisfactory academic progress toward your degree. Note: If you do not meet these standards, you will not be eligible to receive Title IV federal financial aid for the upcoming fall semester unless you submit an academic progress appeal and the Office of Financial Aid approves your appeal.
  • Complete the AMS 10-month payment plan contract for fall/spring with the first payment due July 1
July
  • Check your mailbox for your fall semester billing statement (invoice) from the Office of Student Accounts.
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 9-month payment plan contract for fall/spring with the first payment due July 31.
  • Complete CIA Plus Application
Aug
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 8-month payment plan contract for fall/spring with the first payment due August 31.
Oct
  • Make sure you have paid your fall semester balance in full or have made payment arrangements with the Office of Student Accounts. Otherwise, you will be placed under a spring semester registration hold.
Nov
  • If you have pre-registered for spring semester classes, check your mailbox for your spring semester billing statement (invoice) from the Office of Student Accounts.
Dec
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 4-month payment plan contract for spring semester with the first payment due December 31.

 

Transfer Students

  • Make sure the Office of Admissions has your complete application before June 15 so that you can be considered for a Transfer Merit Scholarship.
July
  • Check your mailbox for your fall semester billing statement (invoice) from the Office of Student Accounts.

Aug
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 8-month payment plan contract for fall/spring with the first payment due August 31.
Nov-Dec
  • If you are transferring mid-year, make sure the Office of Admissions has your completed application before November 15 so that you can be considered for a Transfer Merit Scholarship.
  • Complete the Sallie Mae Tuition Pay 4-month payment plan contract for spring semester with the first payment due December 31.
