Who is eligible to participate in the Competition?

Participants must be enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school program that includes 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade, and must live in the United States.

Who will make up the jury for this competition?

The jury selection is currently underway, and will be posted by February 15, 2013.

When assessing the work, what criteria will the judges be using?

The judging criteria will be based on originality and technical skill as defined below.

• Originality: Artwork that is submitted should represent independent thought and imagination. It should be novel and distinctive in style and concept. 
• Technical Skill: To have a strong command and proficiency of an art medium (an example would be graphite, digital arts, etc.) How it is applied to further the idea or originality of the artwork will be taken into consideration.

Are Art Teachers required to register in the 2D3D online registration system?

Art Teachers are not required to register, but their participation plays an important role in getting students to engage in the competition, and begin thinking about career paths in art and design. However, once a student completes the registration form and submits their artwork, we will contact the teacher to confirm that he/she is their student.

If I haven’t finished my artwork, should I wait to register until I have finished?

Yes. You must register and upload your artwork at the same time. The registration and uploading of artwork phase will take place from February 25 - March 22.

What contact information of mine is required for participation in the 2D3D competition?

Your first and last name, e-mail address, mailing address, high school name, and grade level. In addition, you must submit your teacher's name and e-mail address.

Can I submit artwork in collaboration with other students?

Entry requirements do allow participants to work together on projects. See the 2D3D Prizes section on the Competition Guidelines page to learn more about how prizes are structured when there is more than one participant working together on one or more entries. For collaborative projects, the Participation Agreement and Release Form must be completed and uploaded to the registration form.

Can I enter my work in more than one category?

You can only enter work in one category.

Are there any fees or associated cost to enter the competition?

No, entry into the competition is free.

Is the artwork that I upload required to have a title?

Yes, when you upload your artwork using 2D3D’s online upload tool, you will see a text field asking you for the title of your work.

Can I submit a work if it is from a class assignment, or has already won a prize in another contest?

As long as it’s a different contest, you can submit any work that is consistent with the competition guidelines.

What are the prizes?

(1) Best in Show
(Must be a ‘Category Winner’ to be eligible to win ‘Best in Show’.)

• $2,500 Cash Prize
• Roundtrip flight and hotel to CIA for two days

(4) Best in Category

• $500 Cash Prize
• $10,000 Annual Scholarship ($40,000 Total)

Honorable Mentions
There will be up to twenty honorable mention certificates given out per category.

How does the virtual exhibition work once all the winners have been determined?

Once the final judging has commenced, the winning entries for ‘Best in Show’ and ‘Best in Category’ along with a selection of the Honorable Mentions will be posted on the 2D3D web pages for viewing.
